Shaquania Dorsett – JOB Well Done!

Meet talented 400m Bahamian athlete young Shaquania Dorsett. Dorsett who is a student of Florida State University, made her first appearance at the NCAA D1 Championship recently held in Eugene, Oregon.
Bahamas Athletics caught up with Dorsett after she competed in the 400m.
BA:   Congratulations on making it to the NCAA Championships. Let’s talk about your 2017 season; what did it take to get here?
SQ:  It took a lot of hard work. The season wasn’t going too well for me but at the end of it, when it really counted, I buckled down and got really focused and that is what really got me here.

BA: What were the instructions from your coach before getting on the track?
SQ: My coach just told me, don’t over think it or underestimate myself; just go out there and execute like what I do in practice.

BA:  After it is all said and done, what do you take away from this experience?
SQ:  It was good. They always say your first nationals is always your worse. Hopefully next year is better and I also know what to expect for next year.

BA: How are you adjusting to the college life and also being a student athlete?
SQ: I love being in college but it is hard focusing on academics and track because track is so time consuming but it just makes you more focused and more dedicated especially in your books.
BA:  Who do you want to send a shout out to at home?
SQ:  Shout out to my mom and my dad. I miss you so much and love you guys. Shout out to my best friend, my coaches back at home, my aunties and uncle, just everybody.

Bahamas Athletics congratulates Shaquania Dorsett on qualifying for the NCAA D1 Championships.
JOB well done Shaquania!
