Dianne Woodside on the BAAA's Odd Distance Meet

“Today was a very good day and the meet ran very efficiently.” Those were the comments of President of Club Monica Track and Field Club, Coach Dianne Woodside regarding the Odd Distance Meet held last Saturday.

The Odd Distance meet attracted many athletes from all appearances, who performed very well. Woodside was also very pleased with the performances of her own athletes particularly as they have been training very hard for the past four months. “I am very excited for the remainder of the season and how they would progress throughout the season,” says the proud coach.

Not only did Club Monica’s athletes performed very well but it seems all of the athletes who participated did very well. According to Woodside, the meet was very competitive and the athletes showed good comradry and excitement. “I think The Bahamas looks good from a youth level and I think we would do very well when it comes to international competition.”

Another much anticipated meet is the one hosted by coach Woodside and her team; the 13th Annual Club Monica Classic is scheduled for January 30th, 2016 at 9:00am.

“The plans are coming together very good,” says Woodside who expects to have about 1,000 to about 1,200 participants. Club Monica Classic is usually a 2 day meet but according to Woodside, this year they have decided to run the meet for one day only; despite the reduction in time however, the meet is expected to be just as exciting and competitive as past meets. “I think it is going to be an exciting meet and I hope everybody come out!”

So don’t miss the 13th Annual Club Monica Classic and a chance to see some of their promising athletes. Expected to perform are standout athletes such as double gold CARIFTA medalist, Charisma Taylor; talented hurdler, sprinter Sasha wells; Tanae Miller who also looks extremely well; Megan Moss who participated last year in the Jr CAC Games and also high jumper, sprinter and hurdler Dashia Moss who is being trained in the high jump by Coach James Rolle.

“So we have a lot of kids coming up and we are going to have some surprises as well as we progress throughout the season.”
